History

Chicanos Por La Causa Federal Credit Union was established in 1983 as a Community Development Federal Credit Union.  We came to exist due to the need of having a financial institution that would be able to meet the needs of low income families. 

Our parent sponsor Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. established in 1978 is a 501 (c) (3) non profit community development corporation that offers social service programs and services throughout Arizona. CPLC, Inc. began the initial formation of the credit union. You can find out more about CPLC, Inc. here.

Credit Unions are not for profit financial cooperatives. The owners are you the members. Because we are non profit, we can usually offer lower rates on loans and higher rates on shares.

Every year we have an annual meeting in which you can exercise your right to vote for the Board of Directors . The Board of Directors are all volunteers and members of the Credit Union. Their primary job is to establish the overall direction of the credit union.
